While beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, and that beauty standards differ in different cultures, a face that fits the golden ratio proportions with clarity in texture and tone is generally regarded as a beautiful one.
However, for those of us who aren’t blessed in the genetic department, a little help from minimally-invasive and no downtime aesthetics treatments like Botox and fillers can help us balance our features and achieve an attractive appearance.
Botox
Botulinum neuromodulators are more commonly and simply known as Botox. Botox injection is a minimally-invasive treatment with no downtime. Many call it a lunchtime procedure since you can walk in and out of the clinic during your lunch hour and get back to your daily tasks after that.
- Slim the jaw line for a V-shaped face
The slim, V-shaped face is highly popular, especially amongst Asians. Botox can be injected into the masseter muscles at our jaw area to relax and weaken the muscles, resulting in a slimmer, and more V-shaped face. The results aren’t immediate, but patients can expect to see a gradual slimming of the jawline over the next two to four weeks.
- Botox to smooth creases
Ageing is an inevitable part of life and the lines on our faces are beautiful signs of our inner growth and maturity. While some of us embrace our lines, there are also many who want to get rid of them to feel more confident.
Botox is also highly effective for dynamic wrinkles, i.e., expression lines, like glabellar lines, crow’s feet, forehead lines, or bunny lines. A quick injection can help to relax the muscles and smooth out the lines.
However, for static wrinkles (wrinkles that are visible even when your face is relaxed), fillers are also an option. Your doctor may even recommend a combination of Botox and fillers to smooth those deep creases.

Fillers
Fillers are one of the most popular aesthetic treatments in Singapore since it is also minimally invasive, has minimal to no downtime, and its results are almost immediate.
- Fillers to enhance facial features
Fillers are commonly used as a non-surgical option to give patients a higher nose bridge, a more defined chin, plumper and fuller cheeks, filling in of static wrinkles and nasolabial lines, and additional volume to the lips. These treatments can improve the patient’s frontal and side profile, and restore volume and youthfulness on their face.
Always do your research and make sure you go to a certified doctor with an eye for beauty. You don’t want to end up looking overfilled! Think trout-pout and puffy faces!
- Fillers for dark eye circles and eyebags
Besides using fillers to enhance your features and improve your facial proportions, undereye fillers can also be used to treat dark eye circles and improve the appearance of eyebags.
Dr. Mark Lim from Halley Medical Aesthetics explains to us in detail about how dark eye circles are formed, and the different ways fillers can help us say goodbye to them to look less tired. Watch the video to find out more.
